Under the menu item Transactions as well as Reports, Blockpit shows you if errors or warnings were found in your tax calculation. To ensure that the current errors and warnings are displayed, a recalculation of the tax reports should be triggered first. During the recalculation of your tax report, all errors and warnings found will already be listed on the reports page.
You can either edit affected transactions directly on the Reports page or use the filter options illustrated below on the Transactions page to optimize your transaction history:
- Error or Warning found
For details about the error message/warning, please click on the button Show.
- Unlinked transactions found
To get details about the error message/warning, please click on the button Link now. For example, there are two Depots, each with deposit and withdrawal that match each other? These can easily be linked together. Use the automatic or manual link.
- No problems
After you have fixed all errors, a message will appear indicating that there are no problems.
What do the warnings mean?
"We found transactions with missing Assets."
In most cases, the warnings mean a withdrawal somewhere without a corresponding opposite deposit or insufficient asset holdings on the account in advance. A tax calculation is still possible, but you may have forgotten to enter data or categorize transactions correctly.
The following options are available to resolve a warning successfully:
- There are two Depots each with deposit and withdrawal which match each other? These can easily be linked together.
- There exists a Deposit, which was actually an Airdrop, Staking, Lending, Masternode, Mining, Hardfork, Bounty, or Gift? This transaction can be processed and converted to the correct Transactiontype.
- There is a withdrawal, which was actually a Gift, Payment (e.g. for hardware, delivery service, etc.), Expense, Margin Loss, or Tokensale transaction? This transaction can be processed and converted to the correct Transactiontype.
- Insufficient asset holdings are an indication of gaps in the transaction history. In this case, the missing transactions (mostly incoming transactions) must be detected and added to the depot manually.
Basically, it can be said that usually, the first error message of a coin triggers all others of this coin. That means, if you get a BTC error, please fix the first one first (chronological solving of errors).
It may be that you have to add a manual transaction to the date before an error occurred, which you do not get in our system via an automatic import.
The best way to find missing transactions is to compare your Blockpit transactions with your wallet and exchange histories. To do this, use the filter functions and search for the corresponding assets in specific time windows.
You solve this problem by creating a manual transaction (select the appropriate transaction type) in a manual Depot. Then follow the steps shown in the system.
What do the errors mean?
Errors are always related to assets and either indicate that assets have not yet been fully integrated or refer to missing price data and hardforks at certain transaction dates.
The following options are available to successfully solve an error:
Unknown Asset:"Asset is an unknown asset. We are constantly adding new assets but you can contact the support to resolve this issue quickly."
The imported asset is not yet fully implemented in Blockpit and should be reported to support. Please attach all necessary information about this asset for our support agents so that we can fix the error as quickly as possible.
Missing Fiat Value:
- "There is no fiat value for Asset on MM/DD/JJJJ. Please double-check the fiat value of the asset or contact our support team."
How do I enter missing currency rates via the missing rates feature?
+ Please check under the menu item Assets whether no fiat value is generally defined for the asset in question. This can be checked here if the value of the asset is listed as "unknown". You can report this to our support agents if price data is available on coinmarketcap.com and have the error solved.
+ If there is no fiat value for your transaction or asset at a certain point in timestamp, custom currency rates can be added to the affected transactions in order to correct this error.
To do so, go to the menu item Transactions and then to the corresponding transaction. Now click on the affected asset and select Add Fiat Value. Now you can select the fiat currency and enter the currency rate of your asset at the time of the transaction and confirm with Set Value.
The currency rate you enter should always reflect the market price (coinmarketcap.com) at the time of the transaction.
Important: If you continue to receive an error despite setting the currency rates on the affected transaction, this may be due to the warning "Missing Assets". If the warning is corrected in such cases, the error is also solved.
Hint: 1. if deposits and withdrawals are affected and already linked, they must first be unlinked.
2. if transactions have been traded directly in FIAT, no external price source is required due to direct valuation.
Linking Loop:"There is a looping issue with linked transactions."
This error refers to incorrectly linked transactions. Please unlink all affected transactions and link them manually afterward. Pay special attention to the timestamps of your transactions to avoid re-linking loops.
If the time stamps of several affected deposits and withdrawals are identical to the second, they should be manually edited in such a way that a unique or unmistakable chronological order of your transactions is given.
We are also working on improving the automatic linking and on a function that will allow you to delete several transaction links at the same time with one click.
Hardfork Error:"The necessary amount of Assets is not available at the Hardfork time of Asset".
This error only applies to transactions of the type "Hardfork".
You do not have enough assets for the hardfork to be fully covered.
Try to solve the problem using the suggested solutions for missing asset warnings.
Unknown Hardfork Asset:"Asset has no known Hardfork at the specified time."
This error only applies to transactions of the type "Hardfork.
The asset did not have a hardfork at the time entered or the hardfork has not yet been deposited in our database. Please note that your transaction must be created after the official hardfork. If the error still occurs, please contact our support and include all necessary information about this hardfork for our support agents so that we can fix the error as soon as possible.
